The 1% tweaks that make all the difference

Most people think big change needs, well, big change.

But in my experience, it’s the small, steady improvements that make the biggest difference. Not just for your brand, but for how confident you feel showing up in it.

I’ve seen it again and again. A few thoughtful tweaks can shift how clearly people understand what you do, and how proud you feel to share it.

Take Anna from Anna Mudd Painting. We created lawn signs so she could make the most of visibility while her team was out painting. The signs were simple, bold, and clearly branded so neighbours passing by could instantly see who was behind the work. I also suggested branded buckets as client gifts. They were practical, memorable, and so on-brand for her business. A small detail that keeps her top of mind long after the job is finished.

For The Kids’ Cancer Project, the illustrations on their site were already lovely, but static. I gave them subtle movement through animation, so they could capture attention and bring more warmth to their online presence. Those animations are now used across the website, in social posts, and even email signatures. It’s a simple update that makes their visuals feel alive and consistent across every touchpoint.

With Oh Ramona, a clothing store, we designed postcards that could be used in multiple ways. They double as promo cards for the shop and thank-you cards that go out with purchases. Printing them on uncoated stock meant Cara could handwrite personal notes to her customers. That tactile choice turned a standard postcard into something more human and heartfelt.

And one of my current clients wins most of their work through RFQs. They were relying on long PDF submissions that felt flat and disconnected from their brand. I suggested a small but strategic change to their website’s content management system. With this update, they’ll be able to quickly create a custom landing page for each RFQ. It saves time, looks more considered, and helps them stand out as a team that cares about detail.

Each of these examples has something in common. The changes weren’t huge, but they made everything work better. They made the brands feel more confident, cohesive, and ready to be seen.

I know that feeling myself. When I refined my own brand and clarified how I talk about my work, I started showing up differently too. I wasn’t second guessing how to describe what I do, and that clarity helps my clients feel grounded in what we create together.

That’s what I love most about this kind of work. Finding those 1% improvements that make things clearer, easier, and more enjoyable.
